There is Gavins point Dam, at the bottom of the hill, as well as multiple picnic and playground areas. We arrived at the center and saw that we were going to be able to spend more than the one hour we planned.

A quiet and relaxing drive to start the day. We took route 20 from Sioux City to the center, there are small towns, rolling hills, and historic stops along the way where one can stop and drink in the scenery. The next morning we headed to the Lewis and Clakv visitors center just south of Yankton SD. We walked around this center for a bit and soaked up the feel of the river, imagining how the team heading north were feeling as they lost Sargent Floyd, the only member of the party to die during the expedition. I did a bit of researchand we decided to start at the Lewis and Clark interpretive Center in Sioux City IA so we stopped for our first night (after our sixhour drive). We decided that the Lewis and Clark Expedition would be an interesting subject to discover. While traveling with two 15 year olds this summer we wanted them to have a blast, but learning and having an appreciation for history would be a good bonus as well.
